Silk Road from Chengdu to Xi'an to Dunhuang 8 Days Tour
Day 1 Chengdu Arrival
Welcome to Chengdu, the hometown of the Giant Panda. Your local guide will meet you at the airport and then escort you to your hotel in a private vehicle. The rest of today is yours to enjoy the leisurely life pace of this city on your own.
Day 2 Chengdu
Today you will first have a visit to the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, where you can explore the daily life of the cute pandas, and get close to the lovely creatures.After happy hours with pandas, you will visit Renmin Park to experience the most authentic Chengdu local life. Having a cup of tea in a traditional teahouse, watching the local old couples dancing, joining in the locals to play mahjong or cards in a teahouse.Then, move on to the Wuhou Temple, a shrine integrated with tombs of Liubei and Zhuge Liang. Surrounded by old cypresses and classical red walls, the temple creates an atmosphere of nostalgia. When stepping into the temple, you get the chance to immerse yourself into a sea of ancient profound culture and history.afternoon, you will move on to Jinli Old Street, one of the oldest streets to appreciate the local snacks and artifacts. For photographers, visit here in the evening will be the best time to get better photos with all the red lanterns lit up in the dusk.
Day 3 Chengdu - Leshan - Emei
In the morning, after a two-hour drive from Chengdu, head to Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest carved statue of Buddha in the world. Sitting at the confluence of three rivers, the Giant Buddha was carved on the cliff of Lingyun Mountain, used to suppress the flood. Enjoy spectacular view of the huge statue as you walking down through the narrow staircases to the foot of the Buddha.
After visiting the Giant Buddha, move on to Mount Emei. Located 30 minutes away from Leshan by road, Baoguo Temple is the biggest temple of the mountain, which is also the final site for today’s tour.
Day 4 Mt. Emei - Chengdu
Today is your Emei Mountain Tour. First, take an eco-car in the Scenic Area to Leidongping and hiking to Jieyin Hall, to take a cable car up to the Golden Summit (altitude: 3077 m). At the highest peak of the mountain, you will be amazed by the awe-inspiring view of Huazhang Temple and witness the breathtaking sea of clouds if it’s sunny.Next, go down to Wannian Temple parking lot by car. Take a cable car up to Wannian Temple at the middle of the mountain. Appreciate the most beautiful landscape of Mount Emei in Qingyin Pavilion as you hike from Wannian Temple to Wuxiangang parking lot.Then return to Chengdu by road from Mount Emei.
Day 5 Flight to Xian from Chengdu & Xian
Today after breakfast, you’ll be escorted to take the 1-hour flight to Xian, and after arrival, you’ll be escorted to the hotel by your local tour guide and private vehicle.Today after breakfast, you’ll visit the Great Mosque, a tranquil and historic mosque that has served Xian’s Muslim community for more than a millennium. By the way, you’ll stop by the Muslim Community.Then head to the age-old Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the symbol of the old-line Xian, a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists.
Day 6 Xian
Today your first stop is to join the ranks of the incredible Terracotta Warriors, the forbidding sentinels of a death defying emperor, starting out through the silent millennia of history.In the afternoon, visit the Ancient City Walls, the largest and best-kept city walls on earth. Strolling on the Walls is quite an enjoyable experience. Today’s tour ends to visit the Bell Tower, a famous landmark of Xian ancient city.
Day 7 Flights to Dunhuang from Xian
Today morning after breakfast, you'll be escorted to the airport and take a 2 and a half hours' flight to Dunhuang. After arrival, met and transferred to your hotel in Dunhuang.The first stop of the afternoon tour is the Echoing-Sand Dune, which is located about 6 kilometers south of Dunhuang city, also known as the Sand dunes of Mingsha, offering fantastic desert scenery. The dune, surrounded by rolling ridges and precipitous cliffs, reaches a relative height of 250 meters.The second scenery is the Crescent Lake, called Yueyaquan in Chinese, is a crescent-shaped lake in the oasis, 5 km southwest of the city Dunhuang. It was named Yueyaquan since Qing Dynasty. The lake and the surrounding deserts are very popular with tourists, who are offered with camel and 4x4 rides.After the tour, you'll be escorted back to the hotel in the city.
Day 8 Dunhuang & Dunhuang Departure
Camera ready! Today, you'll visit the Mogao Grottoes with a group of 492 temples, located about 25km southeast of the Dunhuang center, and it is an oasis strategically located at a religious and cultural crossroads on the Silk Road. The caves house some of the finest examples of Buddhist art with a span of 1,000 years.Then, you'll move on to the Dunhuang Museum, a local museum for housing the cultural relics that were excavated in the Dunhuang area. Now there are over 4000 historical items contained in the museum. The museum is divided into four exhibition halls.After the tour, you'll be escorted to Dunhuang airport,end the tour.
